C.A.R.E. + Clean Air Project Overview
This project aims to supply air purifiers and scope out air quality monitoring for San Francisco’s Potrero Hill public housing development. For phase one, we successfully delivered 100 air purifiers. Access to air purifiers means access to clean air, something which can be hard to come by in a neighborhood surrounded by multi-lane highways, new construction, and smoke during fire season. Contributions from socially-conscious businesses and individuals are the driving force behind this effort. Households that are home to individuals with higher respiratory risks, such as seniors, newborns, and those with pre-existing conditions will receive equipment first.
The Potrero Hill Terraces are home to ethnically diverse families from all walks of life. Many residents are essential workers, and receive substantial community support from C.A.R.E.. C.A.R.E. is a non-profit based in Potrero Hill that focuses on improving quality of life and access for local residents. This includes feeding those in need, extending educational resources to youth, and mitigating police-community relations. All funds raised here will be funneled through C.A.R.E. and will be applied to the C.A.R.E. + Clean Air Project. By supporting this fundraiser by C.A.R.E., you’re directly impacting the lives of Potrero’s most vulnerable residents.
In addition to installing air purifiers, funds raised will go towards local education efforts on air quality risks and respiratory health awareness. These efforts are made possible by strategic partnerships with companies like GAMS (a provider of indoor air quality monitoring equipment) and BRIDGE (non-profit developer of low and mixed income housing across California). We recently launched Phase Two of this project, which will expand access to 500 additional households of the Potrero Hill and Sunnydale public housing developments.
